City of Joy

City of Joy is a residential village for young women and girls who are victims of rape and mutilation. This village prototype contains individual residences with four separate bedrooms, a common bathroom and common living room. Constructed of indigenous materials, the residences face a common gathering space for community / children play.

The village also features a director’s residence, common hall for dining and educational classes and the complex is surrounded by a perimeter fence for security and safety of the inhabitants.
